Bayshore Celebrates National Physical Therapy Month in October
At Bayshore Fitness & Wellness Center, Old Bridge Physical Therapist Vickie Larkin Celebrates Twenty-Five Years of Moving our Community to Better Health
Old Bridge-Physical therapists like Vickie Larkin, PT, MS, director of rehabilitation services at Bayshore Community Hospital’s Fitness & Wellness Center at Old Bridge, are health care professionals who evaluate and treat individuals with issues that obstruct the body’s movement and function.
Physical therapists develop a plan of treatment to promote movement, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability and promote general well being. Physical therapists direct patient’s rehabilitation with a goal toward returning their clients to work, normal daily activities, and self-sufficiency.
Care and concern continue even after treatment ends. "We make a big effort to transition patients to the Fitness Center once they complete their rehab so they can continue to use what we’ve taught them," says Vickie. "We help them with the transition, working along with the Fitness Center’s trainers to make sure they are using equipment correctly, building up strength and flexibility, and avoiding re-injury."
"Our rehab team at the Wellness Center is a well-oiled machine," says Vickie of the health care associates on her staff. "I’m very proud of everyone. They do a great job, and it shows in patient satisfaction. For us, coming to work everyday is a very positive feeling."
Bayshore Community Health Services is proud to have excellent rehabilitation services at three locations, at Bayshore Hospital, and both Wellness Centers in Hazlet and Old Bridge.
